Terms of Use & Engineering Disclaimer
Effective: August 30, 2026
By accessing or using Machinist Companion, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application.
Engineering Reference Only
Machinist Companion provides machining calculations, suggested starting parameters and reference information for convenience. It is not a substitute for the controlling drawing, specification, standard, inspection plan, machine or tooling manufacturer instructions, workplace procedures, or qualified engineering and machining judgment.
User Responsibility & Assumption of Risk
Machining can involve risk of personal injury, machine damage, broken tooling, scrapped workpieces and other loss. You are solely responsible for checking inputs, units, dimensions, tolerances, tool geometry, workholding, material condition, machine limits, spindle and feed limits, rigidity, coolant strategy and calculated results before acting on them. Start conservatively, observe the cut, and remain within the limits of the machine, tooling and workholding. You assume the risks associated with decisions made using the application.
Feeds, Speeds & Suggested Parameters
Feeds, speeds, engagement values and similar recommendations are engineering starting points, not guaranteed operating conditions. Actual safe and effective parameters vary with the specific machine, tool, holder, stickout, workholding, material, setup, coolant, tool condition and other factors that the application cannot fully determine.
Critical Work & Approximate Data
Verify critical dimensions and requirements independently before machining, inspection, purchasing or acceptance. Results identified as approximate, suggested, interpolated, theoretical or reference values have the limitations stated with the applicable tool. Where a governing specification requires direct measurement, testing or certified data, a converted or calculated value is not a substitute.
No Professional Service or Certification
Use of Machinist Companion does not create an engineer-client, consultant-client or other professional relationship. References to standards organizations, manufacturers, controllers and trademarks identify engineering context only. Machinist Companion is not sponsored, endorsed, certified or approved by those organizations unless expressly stated.
No Warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Machinist Companion, its software, calculations and information are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. No result is guaranteed to be error-free or suitable for a particular job.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the provider of Machinist Companion will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost production, lost data, machine or tooling damage, scrapped material or workpieces, arising from or related to use of or inability to use the application. To the maximum extent permitted by law, aggregate liability for all other claims relating to the application will not exceed the greater of CAD $100 or the amount you paid directly for Machinist Companion during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. These limitations do not exclude liability that applicable law does not permit to be excluded or limited.
Third-Party Sources & Intellectual Property
Machinist Companion uses app-authored calculations, public or government technical material, independently compiled factual engineering data, and open-source or otherwise permissively reusable sources within documented scopes. Required third-party notices and licence terms are retained. Standards and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Availability & Changes
The application may be changed, corrected, suspended or discontinued without notice. These Terms may also be updated as the service evolves. Continued use after an updated version is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing Law & Severability
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
